The Schematic Design for the Blayney MPS Redevelopment has now been announced, providing the Blayney community with a detailed look at the latest designs.
The Schematic Design showcases a 3D-view of the front of the new building as well as a floor plan detailing the internal areas of the expanded health facilities including the residential aged care wing, inpatient unit, emergency department, visitor reception, and the expanded HealthOne.
Health Infrastructure Executive Director for Regional and Rural projects, Amanda Bock said the latest design and artist impressions provide further insight into what their new and expanded health facility will look like when completed.
“The redeveloped Blayney MPS isn’t just a health facility – it’s also a home to those living in the residential aged care wing,” Ms Bock said.
“The feedback from patients, staff, residents, their families, and the broader community has been integral in shaping this new health facility which will improve access to health and aged care services by better connecting the residential aged care, the hospital, and HealthOne .”
Ms Bock said feedback from earlier consultation on the concept design for the redevelopment resulted in some changes which have been reflected in the latest design, including the emergency department and inpatient unit which will be located closer together.
“The new palliative care suite will be enhanced and a carer’s lounge with access to a screened courtyard will also be delivered, which can be used as either a shared or private space for families and loved ones to gather,” Ms Bock said.
Landscaping and courtyards are important elements of the design and have also been further developed.
“Outdoor spaces will provide a therapeutic environment for residents and patients as they receive treatment and care, while also providing opportunities for staff, families and visitors to enjoy natural light, sunshine and shade,” Ms Bock said.
“Based on community feedback, we are providing access from most of the residential aged care bedrooms to courtyards which will provide direct access to landscaped areas for the residents, as well as a number of an interconnected room for couples,” Ms Bock said.
The construction of the new health facility alongside the existing MPS will be staged to ensure minimal disruption to residents and patients, with no changes expected to the delivery of clinical services.
