Construction kicks off on the new Culcairn MPS

The first sod was turned today, to make the start of construction on the new Culcairn MultiPurpose Service (MPS).

Following the award of the construction contract to Zauner Construction the ceremony marked the beginning of construction at the Balfour Road site with work scheduled to be completed in late 2018.

The new Culcairn MPS will include the construction of a new building that will complement the existing Kiltearn House Residential Aged Care facility which will be retained.

The new facility will incorporate:
· An increase in residential aged care beds from 22 to 28,
· Larger residential aged care rooms with dedicated ensuites,
· Enhanced staff facilities including staff accommodation,
· Modern and larger reception area,
· Dedicated activity spaces,
· Modern inpatient rooms, and
· Enhanced community health.

The redevelopment of the Culcairn MPS is an important achievement for Culcairn and the surrounding communities. The Holbrook MPS has been completed, Culcairn is commencing and next in line is Tumbarumba. These projects represent up to $63.5 million investment by the NSW Government into regional health services.

The Culcairn MPS project is part of a greater $300 million program of works to upgrade existing or build new MPS facilities in a number of rural and remote communities across NSW.

The MPS model tailors healthcare needs for the local community by integrating health, aged care services, and emergency services, to provide flexible health service delivery – from primary health care to acute and residential aged care.
