First sod turned at the new Cobar Health Service

Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries is pleased to announce the redevelopment of the Cobar Health Service is moving full steam ahead with the first sod turned Tuesday 2nd October 2018.

Hutchinson Builders have been engaged to build the new Cobar Health Service, and have commenced excavation works on the new site next to the Lilliane Brady Village.

The project includes constructing a new Health Service, co-located with the existing Lilliane Brady Village which provides the residential aged care service.

Kevin Humphries said “This co-location will provide benefits for staff, residents, and patients by providing greater capacity to meet the increasing demand for residential aged care services in a home-like environment, and delivering a range of health care services in a purpose-built facility,” Mr Humphries said.

The scope for the project includes:

  • Inpatient services
  • Emergency services
  • Community Health services
  • Staff accommodation
  • Additional ten residential aged care rooms and light refurbishment of the Lilliane Brady Village

“The project will provide a total of ten acute/subacute beds, including respite and palliative care that can be used flexibly.

“Given the size of this project the staged works will allow health services to continue to operate and any disruptions will be kept to a minimum.

“I look forward to seeing the construction progress and Cobar’s new facility when it is complete”.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2020.

The redevelopment project is part of a NSW-wide $300 million program of works to upgrade existing or build new Multipurpose Service facilities at a number of rural and remote communities.
