Construction underway at Bonalbo

Posted 11 Nov 2016

Today the ‘first sod’ of earth was turned in a ceremonial gesture to mark the start of early works on the new Bonalbo Multi-Purpose
Service (MPS).
The early construction works package, which has been awarded to Decmil Australia Pty Ltd, will include the demolition of the existing Community Health building along with civil and infrastructure diversions and upgrades on the current site.
Community Services have relocated to the main hospital building, making way for the old community health building to be demolished.
The old existing hospital will be replaced by the state-of-the-art Bonalbo MPS and is proposed to include:
• 24-hour emergency department
• 4 acute/subacute inpatient beds
• 15 residential aged care beds
• Consultation and community health service rooms
• General Practice
• Staff accommodation.
The Bonalbo MPS project is part of a $300 million program of works to upgrade existing or build new MPS facilities in rural and remote communities across NSW. The MPS model tailors healthcare needs for the local community by integrating health, aged care services and emergency services to provide flexible health service delivery - from primary health care to acute and residential aged care.
Access to the existing hospital and Caroona will be maintained throughout the construction period.
